OVER THE PAST few years, you’d be justified in thinking some electric razors have missed the plot when it comes to their shiny new technology. With all the AI-armed sensors or connected apps, it’s fair to yearn for an electric razor that simply aims to make the job smoother and save you time without forcing you to relearn how to shave. Well, my fellow Skynet-fearing friends, the Manscaped Chairman Pro is that tool.

To be clear, there have been a lot of advancements in the realm of electric razors that have been useful and genuinely exciting. The Philips Norelco OneBlade completely reinvented what an electric shaver blade can look like, and how it can move, while the 2025 Men’s Health Grooming Award-winning Panasonic Palm-Sized Arc5 put a 13,000 cuts per minute motor into a device the size of an airpod case.

Manscaped, however, has always been more concerned with making the everyman’s daily shave more successful and efficient. While The Chairman Pro has some nifty features, it’s more focused on making the shave process quick and easy. So if you’re not somebody who wants a shaving device that requires learning an app to use or features that feel better suited for a Steve Jobs-led presentation, this is the shaver for you.

Design and Features

None of this is to say that the Chairman Pro is without any cool features or unique designs. Just like the Chairman Plus (Manscaped's newer, slightly cheaper iteration of the device), the Pro is equipped with a travel lock that clicks on and off with a button. It takes a decent level of pressure to activate, so you can trust that once it’s on, nothing in your bag with fall victim to the blades going off accidentally from turbulence or frantic packing.

Unlike the Chairman Plus, however, which doesn’t come with any type of holder, the Pro includes a sleek and fairly compact hard shell case. The USB-C charger is also welcome, as most of my devices are now using this universal charger, so fewer cords are lying around my counter or in my bag. All of which makes the tool one of the better traveling electric razors out there (and certainly the best one available from Manscaped).

The razor is also equipped with two easily interchangeable blades, securely held in place by magnets, allowing for a smooth and effortless blade switch. This includes a primary four-blade foil (one more than the Chairman Plus), designed for straight-up facial shaving, and is safeguarded by the brand's SkinSafe system, a protective guard between the stainless steel blades for added protection. This added safety feature relies on rounded blades, which tend to be less prone to nicks and cuts than straight ones.

For folks who prefer to keep some stubble, there is a second attachment with two blades that won’t get as close to your face for an even lower risk of tugging or cuts. That being said, it does lack the trimmer attachment of the Plus, so don’t expect to do too much detailing around the side burns or mustache if you have one.

The blade head is mounted on a flexible pivot, ensuring it maintains constant contact with your skin as it smoothly follows the curves of your face. This swivel design allows the blades to seamlessly adjust to every angle and contour, while keeping them perfectly perpendicular to the skin throughout the shave. The tool is also 100 percent waterproof and features a numerical tracker that tells you what percentage of charge is left from 0 to 100. It gets 75 minutes of run time, which is 15 minutes more than the Plus. Yet another traveling boon.

Effectiveness

Similar to the Plus, this Chairman Pro will not be the closest shave, leaving a nearly identical level of stubble. But an uber-close shave is not really what the Pro is after. Instead, it is primarily concerned with saving you time through a simple and easy shaving experience. On this, it certainly delivers. While I found that the additional blade compared to the Plus didn’t offer a closer shave, it did create a quicker, more streamlined experience.

The blades glide across your face gently, and the flexible head allows the blades to seamlessly move around the creases of your neck and chin with ease. I’ll be honest with you, I’d never be mistaken for a consistently punctual dude. I’ve grown full beards, sacrificing the time I could have spent shaving for an extra couple of hits at the snooze button. This is where the Chairman Pro’s efficiency really strives (and yanks at my seemingly always-running-late heart strings).

Given how gentle it is on my face and how easily it glides over the most sensitive sections, I’m able to give myself a full shave in minutes. Sure, it won’t be as close as when I use a cartilage blade or even other, more premium electric razors (like the Braun Series 9 Pro Plus), but I get at least one extra glorious slap to the snooze button (it’s a miracle my phone screen isn’t cracked). This is also why I dig its waterproof ability, as I can shave in the shower without risking the razor’s long-term integrity.

Manscaped doesn’t disclose the motor of the Chairman Pro, but I can confirm it’s no slouch. The motor certainly doesn’t pack something crazy like the Philips Norelco 9800’s 150,000 cuts per minute, but if you’re looking for speed and ease, you wouldn’t want that kind of horsepower, as rushing through a job with that tool will surely result in a few nicks.

Value

Unlike the Plus, which falls at the high-end of the budget options at just under $100, the Pro is placed at the lower end of the more advanced models available for $160 (though, on sale for $150 right now!). Let’s call it an entry-level premium electric razor.

Does it have the absurd value of the Philips Norelco OneBlade at $38? Of course not, but it offers even more safety and certainly shaves closer and faster than the OneBlade. If you’re often in a rush like me, prefer a hint of stubble, or have no interest in your device having the ability to one day attack you in your sleep, then the Chairman Pro is a worthy investment (along with analog locks).

How To Clean

Let me tell you, Manscaped knows how to keep us lazy lads happy. You simply will not find an easier-to-clean electric razor. The Pro is fully waterproof, and those magnetic attachments pop off in a second. Just run the attachment and the device under the faucet, rotate them a couple of times to get all the hair out, and it’s basically new.

Final Verdict: Should You Buy the Manscaped Chairman Pro?

Similar to its sibling device, the Chairman Plus, the Chairman Pro is easy to use and gentle on the skin. But where it separates itself from the newer model is its resource as a traveling device. Armed with 75 minutes per charge, you could certainly get a full charge to last the extent of a week’s trip, and even if you did need to charge it has the easily accessible USB-C charger.

It won’t give you a baby smooth shave, but you can run it across your face fairly quickly without worrying about irritation. The bells and whistles are minimal, but crucially easy to understand and execute. If you like to leave a little stubble and/or are often pressed for time, this razor will be a great option for you.
